After many years of being exposed to traumatic events such as the Conception Dive Boat and Montecito debris flow tragedies, as well as countless daily incidents, he finds himself at a crucial turning point in his life. The toll of experiencing such overwhelming trauma and loss over the years has manifested in the form of PTSD and physical injuries, marking the beginning of a new chapter in his life. The weight of witnessing and responding to devastating events has taken a profound toll on his mental and physical well-being, leaving him to grapple with the invisible scars that accompany his years of dedicated service. Now, faced with the daunting task of addressing his own needs and healing, he must navigate a path towards recovery, seeking solace and support as he embarks on the next part of his journey.

He is not alone in this journey, as countless first responders who were called to serve their communities have similar stories to tell and must navigate their own path of wellness, healing, and self-care. He hopes to inspire first responders to travel internationally and experience the power of healing that comes from being surrounded by new landscapes, rich histories, foreign languages, and creating connections with others. The human spirit is resilient and the path to healing knows no borders or boundaries.
